The rapid advancement of digital technology is fundamentally

transforming the ways in which we perceive and express the world.

Within this technological environment,

Media Sullae: When Technique Follows  explores the point at which the unique

sensory systems of artists with disabilities and emerging digital technologies converge,

pursuing one another like players in a game of sullae (tag).

In the exhibition title, the word “sullae” (術來) suggests an active  relationship

in which technology (sul, 術) does not merely remain a tool for creation

but actively calls upon and guides an artist’s senses,

moving forward together (lae, 來).

Instead of viewing differences in body and perception as limitations to overcome,

the participating artists embrace them as unique cognitive frameworks,

translating invisible data into the languages of light, sound, and vibration.

Kim Yousuk expresses invisible wind and light through the movements of robotic plants,

and Kwak Yohan reconstructs the sensory instability

brought about by unexpected physical changes through the collapse of form.

Bak Yuseok creates works in which light and the body intersect,

allowing their presence to be recognized through sound.

The works of these artists reveal ways in which technology

is able to extend the boundaries of human perception.

Meanwhile, Park Eunyoung and EEYO evoke the very sensation of existence

through the awakening movements of spherical forms and vibrations

that arrive with a subtle temporal delay.

The performance by Park Sungmin, Kang Hyera, and Able Music Group,

in which the movements of a deaf dancer become the music itself,

demonstrates how the reversal of sensory experience

can become an entirely new language of artistic creation.

This exhibition presents an ongoing dialogue in which technology follows perception,

and perception, in turn, drives technology.

Through interactive installations, artificial intelligence,

kinetic robotics, and other interdisciplinary media,

visitors are invited to encounter new possibilities for artistic practice within disability arts.

It is our hope that this playful pursuit between technology and art

will inspire its audiences to imagine new creative futures for disability arts.
